Publications for Secondary Schools and Colleges (available to members only)

Secondary science publications are on the Secondary Resource section of our web site and on the CLEAPSS Science Publications CD. Secondary D&T publications are on the D&T Resource section of our web site.

We have a range of publications to meet different needs.

Guides. Medium length documents on a single topic. Each guide gives as complete coverage of that topic as we can manage.

Guidance leaflets. Short publications, often produced rapidly in response to an emerging situation or where the contents might need regular updating.

The laboratory handbook. Intended to cover a whole range of topics needed by a science teacher or technician.

Hazcards. Basic data and model risk assessment information for individual or small groups of chemicals used in school science

MRATs (Model risk assessments in technology). Individual risk assessments covering tools and other equipment in technology. In three parts: resistant materials, compliant materials, & food technology.

Recipe cards. For some standard and some not-so-standard mixtures & solutions.

Student Safety Sheets. Risk assessment information for individual substances for use by science students at KS4 and above.

SRAs (Supplementary Risk Assessments). Detailed risk assessments for some science activities which pose particular risks.

Electronic documents. A variety of resources which don’t work well on paper e.g. chemical stocklist

Customisable documents. Word versions of some documents which schools can easily tailor to their own needs e.g. model H&S policy.
