Installing the Science Resource CD 2010

Miscellaneous Tips

Please note that Adobe Reader is no longer provided on the CD. We strongly recommend that you download and install the latest version of Adobe Reader from the Adobe website - Please click here. We advise that you remove any previous version of Adobe Reader before installing the new version.

Previous versions of the CD utilised the native Adobe search engine. The new version uses a JavaScript engine. You may need to permit JavaScript to run on your computer and/or in your browser for it to work. In 'Internet Explorer', click 'Tools' on the menu bar and then select 'Internet options'. Click on the 'Advanced' tab. Scroll down to 'Security' and tick the two tick boxes - "Allow active content from CDs" and "Allow active content to run in files". In FireFox click 'Tools' on the menu bar and then select 'Options'. Click on the 'Content' tab and tick the tickbox "Enable JavaScript".

Please note - All the files on the Science Resource CD are now available online from this website under the title 'Secondary Resource' - Please click here or click the 'Secondary Resource' button on the left. The required password is given on the back page of the spring term Bulletin and is also given on the CD - scroll down to the 'Password' button toward the bottom left. We will update the online version throughout the year as and when new publications are produced or older publications are revised.

'Installing' the Science Resource CD

  • Create a folder on the desktop and name it ‘CLEAPSS’ or similar.
  • Copy ALL the files and folders from the CD into this folder (it will take about 5 minutes to copy across).
  • Open the ‘CLEAPSS’ folder on your desktop.
  • Right click ‘index.htm’ and select ‘Create Shortcut’. This will create ‘Shortcut to index.htm’.
  • Drag ‘Shortcut to index.htm’ from the ‘CLEAPSS’ folder onto your desktop.
  • Rename ‘Shortcut to index.htm’ to 'CLEAPSS Science 2010' or similar.
  • Double click the ‘CLEAPSS Science 2010’ shortcut to run the CD copy on your desktop.
